Sunshine, Symmetry & Sewing!

19th May 2023

It has been another busy week in the P5/6 classroom with end-of-year tests and lots of learning and fun.

This week the children have been learning about symmetry, reflection and angles in numeracy and recapped on direct speech in literacy. AND they have learned how to sew!! Mrs McAloon started the children off with felt shapes and they were tasked with stitching them together. Then they proceeded to binca fabric, learning to sew running stitches, back stitches and cross stitches. Learning how to thread the needle was probably the biggest challenge but most of them mastered it after a few tries. We look forward to seeing the finished products - they are looking great so far!!

On Thursday Miss McGarrigle brought the P5 children outside for a gaelic football training session to prepare them for their upcoming tournament, while all the P6 children teamed up for a learning session with Miss Power.

We have also practiced singing in preparation for the Leavers' Mass next month and we have enjoyed lots of outdoor play, both at breaktimes and pom-pom play. Keep up the good work completing AR quizzes and doing Mathletics to fill up that pom-pom jar everyone!!
